Dr. Vaughn is a seasoned Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT), a national speaker, and has served as an expert consultant for some of the most difficult clinical cases in the U.S. She received her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Argosy University-Atlanta Campus and completed her Doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University where she founded and currently leads their DBT Peer Consultation team. She worked at the Department of Veteran Affairs in the PTSD Intensive Program where she conducted Prolonged Exposure (PE) for combat veterans and women with Military Sexual Trauma. Brenna is a Nashville native who earned both her undergraduate and master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Tennessee where she graduated from in 2011. She has an eight-year background working in the behavioral health field with adults in all levels of care.
Most recently, Brenna served as the Director of Clinical Consultants at a local co-occurring treatment center where she developed protocols to assist patients in getting access to efficient yet satisfactory care, earning her the title of 2018’s “Innovator of the Year.” By providing education and direction, Brenna strives to be a “game changer” in her patient’s lives.
Brenna’s fun loving and all accepting nature has served her well as a clinician treating adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, substance abuse, trauma, and family of origin issues. She utilizes ACT, CBT, and DBT to help her clients use creativity to develop a fulfilling life based on their personal values.
