Group Therapy at Psychē - Boston & Nashville

Joining a group therapy session can be scary, but the payoffs can last a lifetime. Whether it’s DBT, RO-DBT, or MBT group, let’s find out what works for you.

Although most people are nervous about joining a group, it is one of those things that make the difference between doing “just ok” and really changing your life. It’s a great way to get the most out of therapy and a welcome relief to see IT’S NOT JUST YOU!

If you’re wanting to learn skills in a classroom like format, then Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) or Radically Open-DBT (RO-DBT) may be the best fit. These groups are not so much “sharing and caring” as they are learning ways to manage emotions, communicate, and tolerate distress. You bring a workbook, do homework assignments, and learn by listening, reading, and practicing.

Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) group is more of the type of groups you may have seen on TV—but with less drama :) In this group, you will find out more about yourself (and don’t we all love that!), what gets in the way of your relationships, and talk about how you feel about certain issues. There is more of a focus on processing (talking and feeling) than in DBT and RO-DBT groups.

So which group do you choose? Regardless, you can trust that our groups are the real deal. PSYCHē therapists go "by the book" to ensure you get an authentic experience. They aren’t just flying by the seat of their pants and calling it “group therapy.” Because PSYCHē's owner is a Linehan Board Certified DBT Clinician, you can be confident that DBT group leaders know their DBT. In addition, our therapists who run the Mentalization Based Therapy and Radically Open DBT groups have been intensively trained and are dedicated to doing it the way they are supposed to be done.

Whether it’s DBT, RO-DBT, or MBT, we run group the way that the research says we should.
