Stephanie Vaughn, Psy.D.-Owner

DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™

Dr. Vaughn believes that those in the mental health profession should be held to higher standards. She is dedicated to raising the bar on the industry as a whole and to that end, committed to staffing PSYCHē with the most highly-trained, responsive, and solid group of therapists possible who go above and beyond to help. She often reminds clients, "We work for you" as PSYCHē coordinates care from the beginning to the end. When she is in your corner, you can be confident that you will be taken care of.

Dr. Vaughn is a seasoned Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Linehan Board Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT), a national speaker, and has served as an expert consultant for some of the most difficult clinical cases in the U.S. She received her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Argosy University-Atlanta Campus and completed her Doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University where she founded and currently leads their DBT Peer Consultation team. She worked at the Department of Veteran Affairs in the PTSD Intensive Program where she conducted Prolonged Exposure (PE)  for combat veterans and women with Military Sexual Trauma and served for 6 years as a provider for Logistics Health Incorporated (LHI) conducting fitness-for-duty evaluations for soldiers preparing to enter the military. She is a graduate of the first DBT intensive training for private practice clinicians which was created by the founder, Marsha Linehan, Ph.D.

Dr. Vaughn has worked with a variety of clientele and although she is best known for being upfront and candid, she has an amazing ability to provide just the right amount of warmth and validation to match the needs of each client who sits in front of her. She listens intently, is genuine, and is willing to admit when she wrong. It is for these reasons that her clients stay with her and why her caseload is often full. She believes that it is a therapist's job to express a clinical opinion, regardless of popularity, and to say what needs to be said. She is a master validator, a challenging coach, and a supportive advocate.

Dr. Vaughn assists hospitals, clinics, and individual therapists in developing DBT programs, problem-solving unique situations, and facilitating rapid change.

Dr. Vaughn travels the country as a clinical educator for PESI and schedules private workshops and trainings. In Nashville, she instructs medical residents, psychology students, and psychotherapists for Vanderbilt University. She is a clinical supervisor for each of the therapists on her team and is available to them 24/7 for consultation.

Dr. Vaughn is the parent of 2 fantastically behaved (and happy) college students (twins) as well as 2 less well-behaved little dogs. She is a fan of the show "Scandal" and loves Boston, her staff, getting up early, reading, and believing that all things work together for good.
